Question Time

Since the first Australian Parliament in 1901, time has been set aside to allow questions to be asked of ministers.

Question Time is run according to the standing orders of the Senate and the House of Representatives. It occurs at 2 PM every day when Parliament is in session and usually lasts for about 1 hour.

During this hour, elected representatives hold the government accountable by asking ministers questions about their actions and decisions. The Prime Minister and ministers are expected to answer these questions, providing transparency and insight into government affairs.
